Skating with The Pogues.

The skating rink in downtown Louisville opened and this year Jackson tried skating for the first time. He did great! Lots of slipping and sliding and falling but he managed to convince himself that it was all fun. I don't remember being quite so well-adjusted when I was his age (or any age). He also enjoyed being pulled on the sled.

We took a few breaks.

Jackson gets an assist from Dad and Grandpa.

A highlight: in the midst of the holiday music and 50s rock and roll they slipped in The Pogues' "A Fairytale of New York," the best Christmas song of all time. It begins with the lyric: "It was Christmas Eve, babe / In the drunk tank..." and gets better (i.e., worse) from there. Now if only they would reunite to do a Hanukah song.
